Tuberculosis, OSHA 5a.1

Tuberculosis training of employees is recommended before initial
assignment to job duties involving potential exposure such as
removals and embalming-related procedures and annually
thereafter. There is no current specific OSHA standard
regulating tuberculosis at this time. However,
tuberculosis infection risk is well documented within the
funeral service industry and OSHA may use its general duty
clause, 5a.1 to cite employers for deficient infection control
programs which include proper employee training.
